Popeyes is a chicken chain, but seafood has been part of its New Orleans identity for decades. Every year, as Mardi Gras ends and Lent begins, the chain brings back a seafood menu. The 2026 version was the biggest in years, with a new twist: four dry-rub flavors for Butterfly Shrimp. Here is everything that was on it, the launch prices, and what is still around.

Each Seafood Item Explained
Flounder Fish Sandwich
First launched in 2021, the Flounder Fish Sandwich uses a flaky flounder fillet from Alaska, marinated in Louisiana herbs and spices, hand-battered and fried. It is served on a toasted brioche bun with barrel-cured pickles. The Classic version comes with tartar sauce and the Spicy version with a spicy spread. Many fans rate it as the best fast-food fish sandwich.
Butterfly Shrimp Tacklebox
Eight crispy Butterfly Shrimp in Popeyes’ Southern breading, with a regular side and a biscuit. In 2026 you could upgrade the shrimp to any of the four dry rubs at no extra charge.
Surf & Turf
For people who can’t choose: four Butterfly Shrimp and two hand-battered chicken tenders, plus a regular side and a biscuit, at the same $5.99 price.
The Four Shrimp Dry Rubs (New in 2026)
- Garlic Parmesan: roasted garlic and parmesan cheese flavor.
- Lemon Pepper: tangy and peppery.
- Buffalo: classic Buffalo flavor with moderate heat.
- Ghost Pepper: Louisiana seasoning with ghost pepper for serious heat.
In July 2026, Popeyes added an 8-piece order of these flavored shrimp to its $5 Faves menu for the summer. The flavored shrimp were removed from the menu in September 2026.
